On this auspicious occasion of the 30th anniversary of Rimbunan Hijau, other than thanking the management and staff for their efforts and dedication as well as our business partners for their supports and encouragement, I would like to wholeheartedly thank the Lord for the blessings He has gaciously showered upon Rimbunan Hijau.
From a small business outfit in the beginning, to a huge family with a staff strength in excess of 30,000; and from a humble start in Sibu, to a diversified conglomerate embracing the world, we can really say that we have put in a lot of effort and sincerity to create an enviable track record and business scale.
Growth and progress should not be equated to pride and satisfaction, and must not imply that we could now take a rest and wait. The road ahead of us is still very long. Moreover, the revitalising of this business is still awaiting us. Only by harnessing the collective wisdom and effort of the team and displaying a new enterprising spirit, new creativity and new concept of knowledge, are we able to maintain our lead in this highly competitive world. In view of the globalisation trend, in particular, we must amass our strength and keep on upgrading ourselves.
We must never expect our past experiences and achevements to ensure our success in the future. We are actively training a far-sighted management team with a broader scope of vision, knowledge and capability. Other than the development of our core business-plantation, media, timber industry and IT, we are also on the lookout for new business opportunities. Besides strengthening the Company's organisation structure and vendor system, we are also readily taking up our social duty to entrench the roles played by Rimbunan Hijau in the social, economic and cultural aspects. A unique corporate feature of "Rimbunan Hijau" has been its dedication towards environment preservation and the pursuit of a greener world.
I am indeed proud to have walked through a tough yet satisfying career journey in the company of my staffs, family and all my dearest friends.
